To be honest, most plastic rulers are so inaccurate that the 0.08cm could be the ruler.

Roy

I think you are being very oprimistic to expect an accuracy (actually repeatability) of better than 0.5mm with a rule, plastic or metal.  THat's before thinking about parallex errors in the methor shown.  Look at the graduations on the ruler - if it has mm then you shouldn't expect any better than +/-1mm.  If you want to get repeatability of say 0.1mm you will have to use a good vernier caliper, and if you want better than that, say 0.01mm, its got to be a micrometer.  There is huge body of engineering knowledge about the subject called metrology and assessing the errors in a measurement makes you want to weep if you ever thought you being ever so careful in doing the measurements.

Hornby are supplying them free with the models. Accurascale are making people pay for them.

We'd be more than happy to increase the Deltic's price from £160 to £169.99 if you wanted a free crew :)

Too modern for me sorry. Happy to pay a bit extra for a crew on the Manor though :jester:

So 92220 is the only one with their images on Hornby’s site atm.

If the image is true (and like the A3’s), I do not understand why only the driving wheels have the exposed rims/tyres, compared to every wheel like Dapol does. (It sucked for the LNER A3, as they missed wheel lining, but that’s a different topic)

The 92220 images will be computer decorated images of the EP. You can tell by the incorrect centre driving wheel spacing which was corrected on the physical livery samples. So dont read in too much to those images

This is the livery sample (which i liked to on the previous page)

Hopefully my pre-order at the Bluebell Railway will be fulfilled...!

This is the first 'modern' model (post 2000) that I will be replacing with an even newer tooling.

TBH always thought the Bachmann 9F was excellent - until I put it next to a Hornby Britannia and it just looked a bit 'chunky' in places. What will be a shame to loose are the working valve spindles, which Hornby never done (albeit they are hard to see, but a nice touch on Bachmann models)

Several delivered to Great Eastern Models in Norwich as I was there this afternoon. Did not get a look at the locos though. At over £220 it means my Bachmann version will have to keep trundling on as I have inflationary bills to pay. Choices eh! However I  hope those who receive them are happy with them as they look good from previously posted pictures.

Good afternoon, everyone. This afternoon I went to Monk Bar Models, in York, and bought Evening Star. They have received all of the 9F’s. I think the BR green is a good shade, and I will not be repainting it. The driving wheels are correct. But it’s the box it comes in. It is very, very big! Indeed it’s about as big as the bix an Accurascale 55 comes in. Anyway, I’ll now let the photo’s I’ve taken speak for themselves.

One to show the big box.

I hope you’ll find the photo’s of some help, and will ease the fears about the centre drivers. Also, it’s a very smooth and totally quiet runner. The firebox glow is nice. What with the cast body it should pull a full length train with ease - I haven’t had time to weigh it.

Best regards,

 Rob.

Looking at 92167 it seems now to have been corrected to have the late crest which is great news.

It has indeed. Lovely model, I’m very pleased. I too was surprised at the size of the box, which was packed with bubble wrap and the Hornby packing box, which the red box sits inside sat inside. I would say very well packed.

The crew (fully painted) is in the accessories pack (which I haven’t fitted yet). I’ve run it in on the rolling road and it’s a very quiet and good runner - capable of a very slow crawl without problem. 92167 has the screw casing for the mechanical stoker in the cab and beneath the footplate, from the tender.

I thought 92167 was supposed to be in early crest, and 92194 was in late crest? Have these been switched? I ordered a late crest 92194 and late crest is what i'm expecting.

The box of 92194 on KJBmodels Instagram show a late crest too. Haven't seen the Loco itself.
