Started off as 25332 then renumbered to 25912. That's an error on Wikipedia.

Looking at Flickr, in preservation TC carries the number 25332.

I've got 25332 on order, I'm now hoping its as it was in its 1980s guise and not 'as preserved'.

25332 and 25932....now i'm confused

No 25332 & 25912

Surely the original run of class 25s only went up to 25327? So 25322 & 25912. As per the Derby Sulzers site.

Lol, the numbers are wrong in more posts than they are right. They should be 25322 and 25912.

🤣 You are quite right and that was with me looking at the numbers on Flickr photos! Doh! 🤦‍♂️

Excellent to see these nearing delivery! Given the convulsions that hit global economy/trade over the last few years it would be grossly unfair to criticize a small company for a bit of a delay. Given the class 24 and the proprietors known attention to detail I would expect the model to be superb.

slightly less confused

Near the end of their lives a small batch of 25s were renumbered as 25/9s for dedicated freight use, 25322 (not 332) was one of them, still in its ‘ice cream van’ livery.

As for delays beyond the control of SLW, no one should doubt the quality of the 25s when they arrive but for those unable to wait, there are alternatives.

FROM SLW FACEBOOK PADE —COME AND SEE US IN YORK THIS EASTER

SLW is pleased to be attending the traditional Easter Weekend York Model Railway Show, after a break of three years. York was one of the first exhibitions that had to be cancelled due to the pandemic and is one of the last to return.

As per 2019, we can be found up on the second floor of the Knavesmire Stand (look for stand No. 95) at York Racecourse. The DCC sound demonstration set-up will be in operation featuring the most recent samples of the new Class 25s. Come and examine these stunning locos close-up.

You will see some exciting new versions revealed, which will be available for pre-order at the show. If you haven't made an advance reservation for these forthcoming Sulzer Type 2s, now is the time since BR blue Class 25/3 No. 25324 has officially sold out. Similarly-liveried Nos. 25296 & 25216 are still available (just). Several others are not expected to last for much longer, especially once people get to examine these latest working samples 'in the flesh'.

The SLW Inverurie Works diorama will also be on display providing a home to several pre-production 'Highland' Class 24/1s which are now in the queue.

Apart from the obvious attraction of SLW, there will be more than 120 other stands at the show, including several diesel-themed layouts - Rowntree's Sidings, Splott, Reeve Road West, Newhaven Harbour and Pig Lane.

We will be available across all three days of the event to chat about everything Baby Sulzer and look forward to meeting customers old and new, especially so after such a long intermission.

Hope to see you there!

York Show Dates & Times:

April 8th to 10th. Sat & Sun 10.00-17.00, Mon 10.00-16.30.

Knavesmire Stand, York Racecourse, YO23 1EX.

A connecting bus link from York railway station each day.

It’s worth noting that the 25/9’s are only being sold as a pair. They were also running on Reevy Road West and looked/sounded fantastic. I also ordered 25296 to replace my pre-order for a 24/1 as I’ve decided to change location/era (again). Stunning models and can’t wait for mine.

Could anyone who visited the SLW stand at the York show over the Easter weekend please tell me what the handbooks are all about that show up in the background of the posted photographs.

Many thanks

Just notepads that Phil was handing out occasionally.  There were also some postcard sized photos as well as publicity material.

Wow - these are great, as I thought they would be - the wait will be worth it - I already have D7666 and (green as built) D7598 on order but that D7661 is really tempting as well!! Looks great in blue syp with red buffer beam.

25322 was withdrawn, it was selected for display at Tamworth openday and repainted into its ice cream van livery for that event. At that point it wasnt operational.

It was later returned to operational condition.

In 1985, 12 of the better condition class 25’s were selected for an ICI salt train contract, in order to ensure they werent condemned. These were renumbered 25901-25912, 25322 becoming 25912.Ultimately it made no difference and all the 25’s went together, 25912 becoming the celebrity last one.

in ice cream van livery as 25322 would be May 12th 1984 (Tamworth Rail week) until December 1985.

in ice cream van livery as 25912 would be December 1985 until 23rd March 1987, but as a non-runner departmental loco through until 1989 when restored again, and painted Green.

So both models are correct, just slightly different points in time.
