coachmann
You were considering the Calder Valley line on another thread and as I did not want to intrude on it, I have posted a couple of pictures here.... 47108 passing through Todmorden Station with Ellesmere Port-Leeds tanks on 29th September 1981.... RMweb Premium Popular Post Jason T Posted November 16, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 16, 2014 Rarely for the present time, I've had a fair bit of time this weekend to get some modelling done. First up was tinkering with the track for The Mill, followed by digging my airbrush out and weathering a bit of stock. Unfortunately, the airbrush decided to break after an hour or so. Additionally, I managed to get a couple of Parkside wagons progressed pretty far, both destined for The Mill again. So, here are the wagons that were weathered. A mix of black, leather and roof grey (yep...) airbrushed onto the underframes, followed (when dry) by stippling, washes, wiping off and quite a bit of dry brushing. Chris may recognise the 5 plank wagon, centre front (which still needs the inside painting): And on to EM stuff........ The two Parkside kits are a 13 ton steel open and an LNER 5 plank which is awaiting some of Mr Franks' buffers. Underside shot of the steel open only; we've all seen the upside view and Bachmann have one in their range now, albeit with absolutely no internal detail whatsoever which in my mind, makes the Parkside kit a winner every time. I've been messing around with the brake rigging a bit; lots missing but more than I've bothered with in the past. This week, I will mostly be wearing undercoat: Two of the 21 ton hoppers I built a while ago, now painted & weathered, and EM. And finally, here's a couple of layout shots to be going on with. Andrew P
Nice work Mr T, lovely weathering as usual, I have a couple of the Parkside 21T Hoppers that you MAY be able to finish when you come down. Love the Layout shots.
RMweb Premium Jason T Posted November 16, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 16, 2014 I'll give it a shot mate but they take AGES (says he who has built 15 of the things now)
Andrew P
I'll give it a shot mate but they take AGES (says he who has built 15 of the things now) They are already half built, so all you need to do is take them apart and re-do them PROPERLY, hahhahaha, it will then give you two more for the Bacup roster. Chris-GNR
Morning.... That 5 plank is looking nice, much better than when i had it. Great progress on the EM bits. Chris
RMweb Premium Jason T Posted November 17, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 17, 2014 Come to think of it, the 13 ton steel open was one of the ones you gave me too mate, still in it's bag. The LNER 5 plank was a very old Parkside kit and I guess that the tolerances didn't used to be as good as they are now, as I had to remove a ton of flash and use Microstrip at the four corners to hide the huge gaps. I regauged the OO wheels to EM for both.
RMweb Gold TheSignalEngineer Posted November 18, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 18, 2014 Expect you will be fighting through the crowds at the NEC this weekend, but if you're not the Crab and L&Y 0-6-0 will be running the East Lancs service again with the Jinty in LMS livery as Bury station pilot. First train Sunday is the Crab/0-6-0 double header again I believe.
