RMweb Gold SHMD Posted June 6, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 6, 2019 So they (presumably deliberately) left off a major language Spanish where "pino" is the proper translation. (In fact not many south American countries represented in that list!) Also, they left off another popular language of Mandarin where "pineapple" I pronounced "bo-lo". It seams to be a very "selective" list in an attempt at humour/proving a point. Kev. 2

While the pineapple is of the genus Ananas, which comes from the Guarani language via Portuguese, they left out Spanish (piña) and related languages which use variations of that, e.g. pinya in Catalan and Filipino. Also Japanese (パイナップル - painappuru), Korean (파인애플 - pain-aepeul) and Welsh (pin-afal), Cheers David

Ozexpatriate
^^^ Funny you should mention it. It's legal in the state of Washington (not at the dump though). Washington passes bill to become the first state to compost human bodies It's the ultimate green burial - human -to- humus. We can raise vegies in what's left of gran. We can raise vegies in what's left of gran. I'd quite like that, rather than waste an overly ornate embellished wooden box. I've just read a sci-fi story about life on spaceships inhabited for many generations where composting had to be part of the culture and the recognition that people were all apart if the cycles which kept things going. It felt more humanised than essentially chucking loved ones in a hole or a fire. Sorry for going morbidly off topic here.
