Apologies - GWR prototype question...

Pannier 4666 as seen at Wadebridge in the early 60s, is on my long term hit list for Pencarrow. A very nice man has recently announced that his company is to do a RTR version of the 57xx / 8750 in 7mm. Said company has a very good track record of delivering on time at a reasonable price. Looks like my loco list may therefore have to get reordered to avoid missing out.

https://www.minervamodelrailways.co.uk/uncategorized/minervas-2017-model-2/

So, 4666 looks like this:

https://thetransportlibrary.co.uk/shop/british-irish-railways/british-railways/gwr/br-british-railways-steam-locomotive-4666-in-1960-at-wadebridge/

Am I right in thinking this is :

A 8750 variant

With welded tanks and top feed?

Confirmation or corrections appreciated.

Not sure if it would appear in west Devon, but Oxford Rail have just announced a 6 where toad. Shame not the more common type which is crying out for a high spec model, but nice none the less. Hopefully they won't cock it up...

Thank goodness it is the 6 wheeler they are doing with their usual habit of getting things not quite right it would have been a crying shame if they'd queered the pitch for others doing a 4 wheeler.  Interesting that they've announced it now - I wonder what they might have heard? ;)

Incidentally 'GWR Wagons' quotes the 6 wheelers as 'lasting into the 1950s' with no clearer detail but most of the listed allocations seem to have only run up to 1944 so I suspect they were probably starting to go by then/the late 1940s.

Any half decent RTR pre-group toad is to be welcomed.

Just keep your fingers crossed - it might well work :)

Right on guv - and I suspect that judging by their track record it will be a good'un.  See you at Reading in December?  ( I have an important question for Mr Klein but he is not yet in a position to answer it)
