Aah yes small vauxhalls. The chevette was rough, the nova was even more rough, then somehow they made it Corsa.....

Also how is it that they can't find a red paint that doesnt turn pink as it gets older?

Having said that our firm had an astra van that went like excrement leaving a digging implement. I once got a ton out of it going up telegraph hill on the A38.

I bet it didn't have that 82 bhp 1.7 diesel unit from Japan.

When I worked for my brother (general building and shopfitting) he had an Astra van.

Went like stink! Once did a trip from Stevenage to Romford and back in 75 mins, and

that included waiting to be served in the Romford shop!

Enough of this Pirate eye stuff and as for carrrrrrrrrrs......., worse than Devil's Dumplings those things.

A little research if I may?

I'm trying to identify 'parts' for the old stone built(?) Goods Shed for The junction. If any of you dear friends have some time later today after galavanting around the beautiful countryside or maybe having to go shopping, could you give me some thoughts on how to reproduce the 'parts' (last resort is scratching) you may be able to see in the following pics (thanks to various producers of said pics)?

I have already seen some pieces on the LCut site that might be OK for the Arches and maybe even the doors. There is so much corrugetad asbestos around and that is easily replicated FWIHF.

West end (access/doors) also shows quite good detail of the stonework.

'Blind Arches' on very left of photo's; the other prefab thing that juts onto the Platform should be a doddle.

Remains of shed from west (access end); Blind Arches would be on the right side wall. It is the end wall window I'd like to replicate. The rest of it is easily represented with RTR stuff.

I thank you....

Phil

P.S. Hymuck working at WSR today; yea. Oh, and a 33. (Driver experience maybe?)

You could make up the arch with various strips of plasticard, or find a Linka moulding, or get one laser cut.

Me, I'd do the first, probably with a basic shape cut with a cutter ( e.g. Silhouette).

The roadside station windows are similar, and will be done like that, with fine filler where needed for the more awkward shapes & corners.

Edit: Don't overlook the Scalescenes products - there maybe a wall or window in one of the kits ( church?) that will be suitable.

Have you used these downloads Stu? My printer is carp so I couldn't trust it to do a decent job?

The new Island Platform Building looks like it could be adapted for the SJ one (say two kits cobbled together with a scratchbuilt roof?)

Hopeless views I'm afraid. I have some better ones upstairs.

Hi Phil

I think the top view is wonderful with two glorious Western Region DMUs.

I think I know my way to the naughty step.

Yes, and believe it or not I'd like to be able to replicate that some time in the future.

Your firm had/has some unusual company cars by the nature of its business. This does sound like a corker, though!

I had occasional use of a firm's car - XHV849T, a Hillman Avenger. Sigh. It had regular visits to the Road Motor Engineer's place at Croydon for servicing, which must have been thorough, because for some years the rear exhaust mounting having broken, it was held in place by a bulldog clip applied by my boss, who drove it more often.

We had an Avenger at one of the Areas where I worked - terrible thing although it wasn't half as bad as some of the vehicles in my small fleet of workabuses (fortunately) and the worst of those was a Vauxhall although the bloke who drove it didn't help.  The Vauxhall HA vans tended to be pretty good if looked after (passed my BR Domestic Licence Driving Test on one of those) but the best vehicles I came across over the years among BR fleet cars were Minis and Ford Escorts although driving the pool 'Land. Crab' was interesting to say the least.  The only one that broke down completely on me was a Peugeot 405 which happened to be a pool car that had not had an easy life.

Hillman Avenger.........................probably the most sh#te car I ever had the misfortune to own. Complete heap of carp.

I've used a lot of the Scalescenes stuff, as has KNP on Little Muddle. Yes, a decent printer helps, but a cheap one will be just as good as long as the ink holds out for all the sheets.

I had an allagro too. It had several attempts at trying to kill me but had the last laugh selling it for £50 (purchase price two years before £80) for spares. (Headlamp bulbs were useful I guess).

http://www.wsr.org.uk/r-cam-bl2.htm   There  has been an 'incident' at Bishops Lyd?

Phil

The unfortunate person that toppled onto the Up track has been dealt with by the Staff and Paramedics. Looked like the WSR Staff were well organised; well done all. I do hope the person is OK and recovers quickly.

The worst car I have ever owned myself wasn't really a car at all, it was a Daewoo.

That's a ghost's car that is.

I have decided that as this Engine Shed is almost exacly the size I need I might get it and fettle it to look more like the SJ Goods Shed.

The windows can be blocked off on the Platform side and the 'inside wall' modified. The end wall windows can be changed from the circular ones and the left side front door would be covered by a scratched, lean to, corrugated thing. Mods to the roof anf I think it might look OK?
