The Barmouth photo is fine on my Mac.

Is this a problem  unique to mac/Safari/Ipad users?

Martyn

Looking back through the thread there are examples of readers with iPads using Safari who are saying that they aren’t having the problem.
So maybe it’s to do with the version of the iPadOS that we are running. You can see that by going to Settings, General, About and you will see the iPad OS Version. I’m running the latest version, 16 and getting the red issue.

A quick question for those who see some black and white images as red.

What does this one look like?

I raised this B & W image issue at the end of November.  No-one replied so I thought it was just me.

I then found that Edge displays the photos correctly so I've just looked at the posts in that since.

I hadn't twigged that they were in a different file format - it must be a browser setting to do with the file type in Firefox (and perhaps other browsers).

I have never had the red problem and haven't with any of the images posted on the last couple of pages.

Many thanks for the helpful answers.

I have found that the black and white images I have been using recently do not have an embedded colour profile, posting them as GIFs gets round it but then some people cannot see them at all.

Yesterday I added a colour profile (sRGB) to the one I posted by itself, that now seems to work so I will convert others as I post them.  I managed to reproduce the problem by downloading an image and then opening it in Photoshop.  It turned red, that is when I looked at the colour profile.

I know Andy Y has been looking at the problem for some time.

It seems to affect people using some browsers with some operating systems.  It has only happened in the last few months so it may be something to do with updates which now require much more specific image  information to display them correctly - perhaps something to do with security.

Davi.

Good evening, David. That’s a great set of replacement photo’s of the High Dyke branch at Burton Lane crossing between High Dyke and Colsterworth, east of the A1. The last photo’ of a class 31, 5671, on a down train of empty iron ore wagons, in June, 1972, is an excellent photo’, with a quite bucolic look to it with the long grasses and plants. Also you have captured a quite dramatic sky too, which completes the scene perfectly.

The latest Switzerland photo’s on the Rhätische Bahn, are truly stunning, from July, 1992, and that first one at Reichenau Tamins, with a Ge6/6ii, on a Zermatt to St Moritz service, on the 29th July, 1992, being a truly special view as the train crosses where the two rivers meet to make the Rhein.

With warmest regards,

Rob.

Apart from mentioning that your dad took some superb photos that deserve a wider audience, black and white

Definite candidate for real thing looking like a model.

A bit of forced perspective with N at the back, plus the way the embankment and tarmac is fairly uniform with a plain grey sky......

Good evening, David. That’s a great selection of photo’s from Bressingham from 1972 and 1973. In J3365, with Royal Scot, 6100, in September, 1973, your Dad has captured a superb three quarter portrait shot of the engine.

The replacement photo’s of Grangetown to the east of Middlesbrough, are a superb set, and something looks quite intriguing about 37515, on a train of down empties, on the 20th February, 1988, in C9344. The nose side grills seem to be in four sections unlike, for example, on a 37/4, where they are in two sections.
The latest photo’s of Carlisle are an excellent selection. The last photo’ is a delightful shot of 90135, on an up freightliner, on the 24th February, 1995.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

Is that here?

There is a footpath to a church on the other side of the line, the road bridge would be to the right, out of shot. There is a diverging line just beyond the next bridge to the north that appears to be signalled here, which also seems to point to what is now the play park in Brindley Road....

Good evening, David. That’s a great set of replacement photo’s of Hillmorton, from 1963 and 1967. The last photo’, of class 86, E3137, on a down freight train, in March, 1967, shows that one the blinds in the four character headcode box is missing, with the bulb shining quite brightly.

The latest Buston Barns, on the ECML in Northumberland photo’s have plenty of interest, with C18253, of 91018, on a down express, on the 16th January, 1993, revealing that the glazing from the driver’s side head and marker light cluster has gone missing.
The 91, is 91018, rather than 91016, since I’m able to enlarge photo’s on my iPad more than you can on a PC. The 6 is an 8 with the upper part of it continuing in the way you would expect of an 8. I hope that makes sense.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.
