Yes, agreed. Looking at it more closely it is the check rail, but it seems to have taken quite thumping if it is distorted.

Not a check rail, it is just the way the crossing has been cast, many of them like it, especially older castings. It’s technically part of the wheel transfer area, but wouldn’t actually have the wheel touching the section with the deformation. Side on view gives a different perspective, top down would make it clearer.

D9004 QUEEN’S OWN HIGHLANDER had a single line nameplate so your picture is of D9014 THE DUKE OF WELLINGTON’S REGIMENT. And the unidentified Deltic at Swayfield in picture C1620 is 55007 PINZA.
Merry Christmas, David.

Good evening, David. Firstly, I must apologise about yesterday’s photo’s, only I now see you posted some excellent replacement  photo’s of Swayfield, on the ECML. I missed out on them yesterday, with them with them being on the previous page. From now on I will keep checking the page prior to the latest one.

The photo’s of Goathland, which is actually Grosmont, on the NYMR, from the 26th October, 2007, are a most excellent set, and in DSC_3305, with A4, 60007, Sir Nigel Gresley, I may have been on that train in the last carriage, the Thompson CL.
Now, the replacement photo’s of Pilmoor, from the late 1960’s, are a most nostalgic selection, with J1198, of a 47, D1617, on a Kings Cross to Newcastle service, in January, 1968, being a typical example of a train hauled by a rather dirty looking 47.
Thank you for posting those model railway photo’s, and it’s great to see something of those two layouts. The last photo’ of your N gauge layout of a mythical village somewhere near Sattel on the Südostbahn, in Switzerland, is most impressive, and when more complete will be a great reminder of the railway on the Südostbahn.

The photo’s of Damdykes, as on the 3rd January, 2008, are indeed a delightful seasonal selection. The last photo’, of a class 220, on a down express, going away, is a well captured shot of the train producing a snow flurry in it’s wake.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

Goathland was the result of copy and paste when I captioned the photos in a bit of a rush, make one mistake and they are all wrong!

I've corrected them now.

One day I'll start threads on both layouts, I should have more time now things are just about all sorted out.

Good evening, David. I hope you have had a relaxing Boxing Day. That’s a most excellent set of replacement photo’s of Chesterfield from the early 1970’s. In C855, with a class 122, on a down special, in March, 1972, you will be absolutely right to think it will be route learning special. The middle window windscreen wiper is a big clue, and it was a 122 that was used on such duties in the north of England in the 1970’s.
The next selection of replacement photo’s, this time of Dinting, from 1969 to 1975, are superb, with C632, of  Jubilee class, 5596, Bahamas, in May, 1971, looking shiny and smart in LMS maroon, a fine portrait shot.

The Switzerland photo’s are a delightful and atmospheric set of Interlaken Ost, on the 12th August, 1988. You have captured so well the station and the extra trains for the anniversary. In C10887, with Re4/4, 11251, on an Interlaken to Zurich Flughafen service, the TEE livery suits the locomotive well. The last photo’, of a metre gauge train, on the Brünig line with Deh4/6, 916, on an Interlaken to Luzern service, that’s a great photo’ of the locomotive and train in the station.

With warmest regards,

 Rob.

They are most likely to be Agfa CT18 (ISO 50).

They could be Fujichrome but they are not really grainy enough.

I don't think Dad or I noted the films then, but I will try to check.

That one is 13001 which is very subtly different to 13003 which also had yellow buffer beams.....

For a class of only three, they were all slightly different.
