Have we come up with a name for this Pecketty place yet?  If not, and in the ovine tradition, might I suggest Poddy Bottom (a Poddy is a bottle reared lamb, often an orphaned pet), a marshy district of the ancient demense of Poddy Peckett, a hamlet just up the road.

Evening all. 

 

Not much to report other than a lot of testing done today.  I really want to make sure that the running of both the layout and the Peckett's is as good as it really should be. 

 

A slight issue with one of the points has been resolved after some minor hesitation as the little chaps shuffled across. A bit of cleaning seemed to sort this. I've also stripped one of the Peckett's down. I found that the slide bars were a tad sticky. Investigation found a bit of gunk nestling there in. Removing that highlighted a tight spot on the one side involving the slide bars and cross head. Further investigation revealed a ridge on the slide bar itself. This could have caused the clearances to narrow slightly, hence the tightening. A bit of  gentle filing has removed that. 

 

More testing is now the order of the day before moving on with the ground cover for the layout and the basic scenery.  Then I can get on with painting the trackwork/ ground cover. 

 

 

Oh and the layout is called Sheep Dip. 

 

It's part of a bigger industrial concern now in decline and quietly returning to nature. A spot of rural decay if ever there was. There's a small loco shed which is home to a Peckett or two with facilities for coal and water. Its also home to an engineering firm but I've no idea what they make and to be honest, I'm not that bothered at present. This will just evolve as the layout progresses and progress it must.  

Ten weeks today will see Sheep Dip at its first exhibition so a bit to do before then.

Evening CK. Not too sure to be honest.  I don't really see Sheepy as a colliery. More of an engineers really but one that has seen much better days. 

 

Run down for sure.....with more than a hint of mother nature about the place. The emphasis will be on creating this side of things. The rest will drop into place.

I think not Andy. Let's just see how things turn out. In common with the three that have gone before, the only ovine content will be the name.
