EBay madness

I would agree it's not a Tri-ang motor bogie. I'll check my Kitmaster one (if I can get to it - there's a load of stuff in the way). They are very similar, except the Kitmaster is rather puny. Mine came with a K's GWR Diesel Railcar - no chance!

I can confirm it's a Kitmaster. Mine's the same even down to the red gears.

It never ceases to amaze me that these so-called 'dealers/traders' are too lazy to check their wording before listing. Also the questionable practice of listing multiple manufacturers on one item just to get attention. Note the anti-Payapl(!) sentiments, which it is believed are against eBay policy.

Curiouser and curiouser as Alice would say.  This caught my eye as there's nothing like a nice clear picture.

So I thought I'd take a look at what else he has:

So I looked at his profile and current/old items

http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/foden19652012/

And I compared that, with this person's profile.  Maybe one of our favourite sons has a dopplelganger?

I think the common lorry word gives it away?

I was involved in the manufacture of those! The donor was a 2-6-4 tank. I was given a load of valve gear frets and tin snips and a file, and earned a little extra pocket money cutting the bits out and cleaning them up. So there is a good chance I cut out the valve gear for that model!

I thought the Hornby TPO was based on an LMS prototype? (I may be wrong - I sold the GWR livery one I had, because it wasn't!)

What is certain is that it shouldn't have B4 bogies!

The Lima DMU doesn't seem unreasonable, though the seller is right that you can see the join! (Mine still remain as two DMBSs, though I did acquire some extra bits for the conversion. Since they're MIB I'm loath to touch them now.)

I have to say that paying £2k to a seller with precisely 3 feedbacks is a bit chancy. He may be utterly decent, or he may not.

My thoughts entirely - when I'm a buyer I'm also wary of paying a lot to someone with small feedback score.  Even if he's a thoroughly decent chap, what experience does he have in packing/shipping such items securely?  You can't tell from a small score.

For that kind of price, I'd be willing to personally deliver it. That's the very least I could do with a fragile model like that......

All it would take would be for Heljan to re-issue it!

Exactly my argument to Bachmann about their FGW Class 166. There is plainly a market for them as they go at in excess of £150 on eBay, but it seems that I was the third person they'd told today there was no demand!

Judging by the dates of the four offers, it already has!  For some strange reason the boxes are collectable :O  but £85 is ridiculous (but the seller is another in the Gostude mould). (Phineas T. Barnum effect?)

Really? I think I've one in my unbuilt kit box, with things other than the turntable kit in it!

Another item that's been listed umpteeen times, another seller who doesn't seem to learn, another seller with less than 100pct feedback.........

Only £1 delivery? Almost worth bidding the 1p starting price just to see (well imagine) the guy's face when he sees how much it costs to post it these days.   Perhaps £1 was reasonable when he first started listing it. :)
