A Nod To Brent - a friendly thread, filled with frivolity, cream teas and pasties. Longing for the happy days in the South Hams 1947.

The wood grain hasn't worked.

It has the look of a'wash' about it rather than grain.

It appears that Lawrence Llywellyn Bowen was consulted and advised a 'scumble finish' darling.

Rob.

I think it looks a decent attempt but I'm no expert , just a potential customer. ;)

There is more ongoing dissatisfaction on RMweb about teak finishes than about most other liveries added together (what colour would that produce?!). Even the heart-searching about Hornby's use of the same green for malachite and BR(S) green is muted by comparison.

The vehicle looks very smart, but whether it looks like LNER teak I have no idea.

Images of the LNER dynamometer car are available. What's the verdict on the teak finish.

I can't stop looking at that 'wheel of fortune' underneath. Was that used to measure the speed, and if so what was it supposed to be in contact with?

It's a lovely model but the wood grain just isn't looking right for me..

A Hall amongst the trees never offends.

Speaking of Hall's...

Currently in transition from BR Early Totem Lined Black 5960 Saint Edmund Hall to GWR War Time (Post War) Black 5998 Trevor Hall (Mk.2)..

It is in the 'raised' position .

I bought this for 20 quid the teak not perfect it's to be heavily weathered so hopefully won't look too bad, as teak hasn't

got a uniform grain something near as possible to it should be acceptable to most modellers but current manufactures

are struggling to get it right and will do forever more, an artist painting them might be the answer at great expense no

doubt, i can replicate 12" to the foot teak but 1:76 scale I'm hopeless.

Over beyond the other line Rob - not in the six foot (although a centre pivot arm signal might fit in the six foot?).

Where that bare earth is at the moment then.

Instead of a cocktail stick, you could put a signal there.

A lot cheaper option Stu. Spams would prefer a tree.

Give it time, it might grow.

As there is such a strong interest in ANTB, there is a new etch, from Worsley works for an E40.

Although, in use in the 1920's/early 30's, these coaches were coupled up in pairs for use on the Brent - Kingsbridge branch E40 etch.jpg E40 etch.jpgand became the fore runner of the 'B' set.

I commissioned these as a retirement project for David Geen now he can finally get on with his Brent.

The E40 is now in the main Worsley Works range @£42 per etch as below.

Looks nice! Where else did the E40s work?

I have images used for the etches taken at Blodwell junction on the Shropshire/Wales border. They were working out of Plymouth in the 1920's

If you tried the cocktail stick with an olive, a cherry or an onion, perhaps.......

Trains yesterday, did this today...

post-6675-0-61320100-1525725004_thumb.jpg

Climbing, scrambling and zip wires for 3 hours - all underground and up to 100' up a cliff face.

Think I'll stick to trains.
