Reminds me of Tommy Cooper.

"I'm taking the train to Paris".

"Eurostar?"

"Well, I'm no Dean Martin".

Very good joke and TC was one of the best comedians of his or any other time - but I don't think that even he was able to see 10 years into the future...

You're quite right of course. I thought the attribution a bit suspicious first time I came across it, but didn't do the maths. (At my age TC's demise seems pretty recent, while the Channel Tunnel now seems to have been there for ever!)

There's quite a lot of this stuff - what we might call the Tommy Cooper apocrypha - on the web. Let's just see it as homage to the master.

Meanwhile back on Earth one less woodlouse for the Railway Room

In case anyone was wondering this woodlouse suspended in a spiders web is still moving its legs after two days. It seems not to be on the spiders menu. It’s a pity because my Railway Room is plagued with them and this victim would have been eating my scenery with all his mates.

You're a star, you're a star

A lamé suit and a new guitar

And I know that you'll go far

'Cause you're a star

You're a star, superstar

On you go, it's your finest hour

And I know that you'll go far

'Cause you're a star

Meanwhile 64xx class pannier 6417 meets 4012 on an up local freight working.

Hi Phil

Like all things Great Western they took time to evolve outside steam pipes, so when new they never had them. By the time they were ready to be recycled as Ford Poplars they had grown them, some even had big ones like Castle class engines.

And a number were rebuilt into Castles.

And confusingly each batch built had a name - Stars, Knights, Kings (which became Monarchs), Queens, Princes, Princesses and Abbey's

Talking of Castles and Drew just won the scratchbuilt challenge on the telly.

By far the BEST layout shown to date for me.

Biased YES

GWR YES

Very well done to the team.

If you've got a spare 35 minutes I suggest you good fellows might give this a watch, most enjoyable.

I've just watched the GMRC and a win for proper modelling without resorting to gimmicks, but not an easy theme to deal with. The condensing pannier on the meat train was a nice subtle touch, I wonder how many people noticed.

Not easy to beat proper GWR.

... and a number were rebuilt into 3-Cylinder Britannia lookalikes

... and confusingly each batch had a name - West Country; Battle of Britain; err, West Country (again) and Battle of Britain (again)

And if the rumours are true, they were also rebuilt into Leaders  :jester:  :jester:
