Surprisingly with KR doing fictive locos, they have not chosen other numbers in the class. 5 were under construction and 36002 nearly got a chance to have a puff outdoors! I think I could be tempted by 36002 in BR early black at some point....

Sorry for the image quality - a bit of a smash'n'grab at the end of the show.

Starting to look the part.

Is that real coal in the bunker ? If it is easy to remove it can easily be crushed and refitted. That's assuming that they do not provide finer coal to the production models.

Certainly a chunky beast.

Earlier pictures show that the bunker under the coal is very shallow. It would have helped if it had been deeper but perhaps the gear tower doesn’t permit that. Still, there should be enough space to add real coal in 1:76 rather than the 1:1 supplied.

The finish looks closer to the proper grey than the earlier silver samples, which is good.

Only a couple of feet - the first overbridge will soon sort that out.

Is that the coal sorting out the bridge or the bridge sorting out the coal! 🤔 😁

Simples - in the real world the bridge would almost inevitably win as coal is softer than masonry of metal girders.  In the model railway world I wouldn't give much for the chances of a bridge made out of cardboard but the interface with a resin one could  get very interesting.

Some of those coal lumps are bigger than the firemans window !

Even my wife commented on how out of scale the coal was and where did they find the boulders of coal!

It is difficult to follow the mindset that allowed that image to be published!

Plot twist - the coal on the model isn’t removable…

That is simply crazy! I too saw the model at GETS and the ridiculous 'coal' load is the first thing you see when looking at the model. I was told that it will arrive in December, but then last year at Warley I was told July. I would rather have it next July if it means getting rid of the moulded plastic 'unremovable' coal.

all the best

Godfrey

hanging on in hope that it will be 'right' when it eventually arrives!

Looks like a old 1970/80s  Central Line London Underground Power Unit on a Steroids huge overdose. Plum ugly beast.

I believe that the ‘unremovable’ comment was a joke. In Jenny’s preview of this exact model, the coal fell out of the bunker more than once when the body was inverted, so I don’t think there is much to worry about on that score
