RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted April 2, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 2, 2022 Work is continuing to get Polsarrett completed for the show. Quite a lot done since February, including: legs, fiddle yards, cassettes, drapes, layout painting and electrics. So I do have a functional layout, which is good. The fiddles hadn't received their top coat of paint in the following photo but you get the idea. Scenically there's loads left to do though, so it's going to be a case of what I manage to get finished before the show. A few images showing the current state of affairs: I'm hoping that today, when I visit the printers for the third time, the backscene will have been printed. Fingers crossed. 14 4

Not arguing against them being there if they are, just checking if they still are as the earlier posted guidance if we want to attend. Boris might be relaxing things but COVID infections are going through the roof, so bizarrely we're probably all more at risk now than we were a few months back. I'm sure Rob will be along to confirm but I thought that there was no intention to drop the previously posted entry requirements. IMO it's probably more important that we are all responsible and do LFT etc before the show. 1

Got it at the mo*, not too bad but it still ain't nice and I wouldn't wish it on my mates. If it means buying a test, tough. * I reckon it will have been from an event in a similar sized room with a similar number of people so there's no room for complacency. 2 1

RMweb Gold Popular Post NHY 581 Posted April 2, 2022 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 2, 2022 (edited) Morning all. SWAG is to be held at Staplegrove Village Hall, Taunton on Sunday 24th April 2022. Doors will open at 1000hrs and the event will run until 1600hrs depending on who is still awake by then. LAYOUTS There are 12 layouts covering 2mm finescale, HO, OO,EM, P4, 0-16.5 and 7mm so hopefully there's something for everyone Subjects include Cromford and High Peak, Forest of Dean in BR days, Blue Diseasals, SNCF, ex Great Eastern backwaters (steam and diseasal) and whimsical Somerset light railway. Therefore hopefully something for everyone. There are a couple of traders along with bring and buy and catering on site. COVID Now, as Spams and Andy have alluded to, COVID has not gone away. I'm just getting over my second bout despite being triple jabbed. John raised the question regarding earlier posted COVID measures at the event. I note the stance of HM Government as per their updated guidance yesterday. However with 5,000,000 new cases logged by HM Government last week, I can confirm that the fofollowing will apply and to some, this will be out of step but here it is... ALL visitors, exhibitors, traders and helpers attending the event will need to; Obtain a COVID passport. These are still readily available and can be downloaded in literally seconds from gov.uk. I checked yesterday still functioning for both domestic and travel versions. Conduct a lateral flow test (LFT) a maximum of 24hrs prior to the event. These can still be registered on gov.uk as of yesterday. There will be a limited number available on the day but DO NOT RELY ON THIS BEING AVAILABLE AS WE WILL RUN OUT VERY QUICKLY. Regarding the above, compliance will not be checked but we are all adults here and we must all collectively take responsibility to keep each other safe. There will be people attending the event who are vulnerable themselves or will have family members who are also vulnerable. Please respect this. Therefore please be able to show compliance with the above in the unlikely event of being asked. I will be happy to demonstrate mine. If your LFT indicates positive....PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND THE EVENT. Hand sanitiser will be available as will hand washing facilities. Masks are at the discretion of the wearer. Windows and doors, subject to the weather will be open to provide airflow. All attending the event are encouraged to bring their own mug if wanting a hot drink throughout the day. This will cut down on the catering section handling other peoples 'stuff' when washing up. Visitors will be asked to sign in. I will dispose of this data 21 days after the event. Please take into account that this is a FREE TO ATTEND event. Exhibitors and traders are attending at their own expense and at their own risk. Please respect this and help us to make this a SAFE event for all who attend. TRADERS. Lord and Butler will be attending as will 247 developements. Please review their websites. Orders can be collected at the show. Lord and Butlers website ( by their own admission) is not the best and is to be worked on. Please ring or email them with your wants. I would suggest any emails sent to either trader be headed up as SWAG Taunton April 24th or similar. Stu ( Stubby 47) will be there abd will no doubt be happy to discuss bespoke building or other modelling commissions. Brian from Braeside Models will also be happy to discuss bespoke buildings. Richard ( Mudmagnet) will have a selection of his very fine 3D prints available to purchase. He will no doubt be happy to discuss your ideas for future projects. BGMAN/ CHARITIES Tim, John Ian and Rod are engaged in the herculean task of moving on a modelling lifetime of materials accrued by Grahame. Proceeds will go to his grandchildren and the British Heart Foundation as well as Bristol Heart Hospital. Please be generous. A percentage of profits from the bring and buy along with the proceeds from the catering will also be donated to the above. SHIRTS.............. I hope this covers everything. My apologies if I have missed anyone or if it seems a bit rushed this morning but the builders have just arrived and I must dash. I'll pop in later. I thank you. Rob. There may be an 'informal' amongst those exhibitors staying over but to the best of my knowledge nothing has been arranged as of yet. The majority of us are travelling up, down, over and across on the morning of the show. Rob.

RMweb Gold john new Posted April 3, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 3, 2022 (edited) Just a thought for 2023 - perhaps suggest the meeting up/stop over places the night before early on in the announcement thread. Clive's point about the in-house restaurant also a valid one. Edited April 3, 2022 by john new
