The Graham Farish range again welcomes a host of new additions this Autumn, starting with new Train Sets. Four sets will be available, covering passenger and freight operations in both the steam and diesel era and two, the Thanet Flyer and Moving Mountains, will also be available with an optional SOUND FITTED variant. These SOUND FITTED Train Sets include a locomotive fitted with a Zimo sound decoder and an analogue controller, allowing users to enjoy realistic sounds straight from the box. The LMS ‘Black 5’ returns to the Graham Farish steam fleet and six models will be available including preserved examples No. 5000 and No. 45407 ‘The Lancashire Fusilier’. The new Graham Farish Class 90 also returns, twelve months after its grand unveiling, with a further five models available with or without SOUND FITTED.

SOUND FITTED versions of the all-new Class 158 DMUs from Graham Farish join the previously announced standard format models, along with more liveries including Central Trains, GWR and Northern. There are SOUND FITTED versions of the Class 14 Diesel too, now that the upgrades to fit a DCC decoder socket and speaker to this diminutive model are complete. New N scale rolling stock releases are dominated by the Thompson Coaches this Autumn, with five vehicle types – including the Full Brake, which joins the Graham Farish range for the first time – each available in LNER Teak Effect, BR Crimson & Cream and BR Maroon liveries.

Also please refer to the EFE Rail topic for further details on the N gauge J94/Austerity

Ooooohhh, do I replace my old tooling 158 with Electra GWR vinyl's on it.....

Blue Thompson van definitely tempting, needs suitable application of muck on it.

That GWR Pannier set actually is rather attractive too!

Not a bad batch for Farish, quite a few items there, almost feels like more Farish than Bachmann this annoucement.

I wonder if its like Revolution Trains commented on Radio 2 N gauge is growing as houses shrink. Are we seeing the effects of that in  a market shift and demand increases. The train sets in N suggests they are looking to increase the market and get people into it easily

Great list there - my wallet won't be happy. Typically I spent ages tracking down black 5's I wanted and then they announce 6 more, might get a new one still. Thompsons are great news too, especially the maroon sets

Maroon Thompsons - what's not to like about that, I shall definitely be adding a few of those to my layout!

The Black Five is bound to be popular, I had wondered if this loco might be one that would be retooled with loco-drive and sound, but to be fair it is still a very nice model as it is in existing tender-driven form.

I wonder if they changed the tender drive to a loco drive on the Black Five. I own one of the Black Fives of their 2010s range. And it regulary locked its rods when I was driving the loco. So I haven't used it for many years, since I've got one of their 5MTs.

I doubt it, they would have mentioned it in the video, plus its still down as 6 pin decoder. Would be 18 pin with speaker if the tender was empty

As Ed Says, it is described as having a 6 pin DCC socket and there is no mention of loco-drive or DCC sound so this will be a re-run of the 2010 version with tender-drive, and in fact you can see in the picture there is an inner chassis within the tender which confirms it. I have a couple, and find that as long as pickups are properly adjusted and motion/crankpins kept free from fluff and fibres they operate quite nicely.

Possibly Bachmann's decided to compete with Hornby's TT offering with an enhanced N gauge range?

The trains sets are a nice addition, just in time for Christmas, as is the Thompson Full Brake, but I was sure that they would finally do another run of MK2s in blue/grey, but alas no. But at least there is another RTC coach which will be appearing in a bargain bin near you within 6 months.

I thought they would come out with a ready to ship all new range of peaks to try and scupper rapido!

anyway nothing new, but some nice re-liveries and re-issues.

I really wasn't expecting much following on from the bumper Summer announcements, but blimey!

It sure is going to be difficult to resist a couple of those 158s....

A sure sign that Bachmann remain as committed to Farish and N Gauge as ever I'd say.

Good to see more 158s announced but the new 90s are a little puzzling, repeating existing liveries instead of missing ones such as EWS and DB. Hopefully a sign that the first batch sold well though.

David

Just what I was coming to say. I can only assume it’s easier to get a production slot when the artwork is all done, it makes no sense otherwise to re-run five liveries when there are 20+ we’ve not seen.

Nice to see a return of the train sets - although I suspect there will be a lot of Redland PGA on eBay in the new year as sets get split. Might have to get my old ones on there first!

A rerun of the Thompsons is nice, and including maroon too! Interesting to see they're continuing to produce multiple versions in each batch as with the Mk1. Shame there's no more Mk2a.

Good to see the class 158s getting a few more liveries - hopefully a future batch will include WYPTE crimson & cream. The price is quite eye-watering though - around 10% more than a loco and illuminated coach such as a Mk2F DBSO (£194+£60 vs £285 all RRP).

Nice to see more class 90s so soon, although as already mentioned, shame they're in the same liveries - I was hoping for an Intercity Mainline version.

Definitely going to see what the best price is on the GWR 158 but can't seem to find anyone with it listed yet.

Under the terms of trade with retailers Bachmann do not permit a discount of more than 15%, I can't recall how long it applies for but you won't get a better deal than that from any dealer initially.

I was as well, but am glad they didn't just yet. I have a large order of Mk1's and Mk2F's in so I might have been in deep trouble if Mk2's landed as well 😆

I was pleasantly surprised whilst rummaging my stockbox to find I had more Mk2As than I thought I had.

What I'd really like now is Accurascale to announce the Mk2Cs in N, but they just keep teasing us.

I saw some interesting stats on the N Gauge Forum, us N gaugers are really having a good year of it from Farish, though my spending with them has been on spare bodies not new releases.  But it is good to see plenty of stuff coming forwards, it's the 47s soon and I reckon they will have had a chassis treatment.  I also suspect a Peak may appear given Rapido are carefully starting with the 44.

An excellent set of releases.  Between last quarter and this quarter I've now managed to complete my planned maroon rakes, the Thomson BSKs being the cherry on the cake.  I'm assuming the Thomson BG is the same tooling as the NGS model?

Not my era, but good to see the 158s finally reach maturity.  Some Black fives to haul some of last quarters' Mk1s. It's encouraging to see train sets return and with the EFE Austerity elsewhere, an accomplished couple of quarters from Farish.

Best

Scott.

Wouldn't happen to be these figures would it? If so I put them up  😁

I hope so, I do suspect the 47 did get sound after they dropped it, can understand the J94 coming without sound but if the 47 doesn't it will be a shame (won't stop me buying at least one though). I somehow can't see Farish doing a peak unless they already had it in the pipline before Rapido announced one, but as long as we get a good peak model I am happy

Yes it will be, my understanding is the society get models for an exclusive period before they go on general sale, maybe this is what held up the 2nd run of Thompsons?
