This one's just closed with no bidders.  Can't imagine why not....

The usual problem of too many newish items posted as a job lot? 13 boxed locos?

Or perhaps the lack of an out of focus group photo?

They will probably come back individually and bag a £50 each tag £80 if he adds the words DCC and inserts a cheap decoder.

"Concentrating on Model buses" ???? :O :scratchhead:

Well you never know? He might be a dealer reducing his stock and hoping for the unwary to bid his BIN price but I doubt a dealer would be daft enough to try a lot like that and the lot content is the problem as it is not much good for most private buyers and his aspirations are rather off beam for a dealer's buying price (think £20-40 per loco, and there are more than a few £20 level ones in that lot). So I think he is probably a genuine seller just trying to make it simple for himself, and failing.

This Austrian narrow gauge diesel in 7mm three-rail (the old Marklin Minex system) has been repeatedly offered at around Euro 300 and in all the times it has been on has never received a single bid. Neither have the other two he is trying to sell. You would think he would have got the hint by now.

So eBay thinks it knows me better than me does it?

I did buy the Railroad Evening Star, but can confirm I didn't buy the 08 detailing pack, coaches or totally superfluous extra tender drive Evening Star.

OK I know it's an automated "suggestions" system but you'd think it could work better than this

If the automated software is to be believed there are people who bought a Railroad 9F and "also bought" a Railroad 9F

I find the random selection of items proffered quite amusing, like some sort of desperate junk shop owner....

"You bought a chair! I have more chairs! Look at all these chairs! Please buy another chair!"

Auntie Wainright lives!...without the please of course.

Seriously though it's all very irritating.

A Collector of Railroad 9F, perhaps?

Just more advertising clutter and virtually nothing to do with real marketing, but then again we all know there is one born every minute on eBay.

This poor chap has had his O gauge models on ebay for weeks. They look well made but are clearly over-priced for them not to have had any bids. By the time he does sell them the cost in fees alone would easily negate any money he was planning to make in profit.

His items

Maybe not over expensive if you compare the two Comet Models Pullmans for sale on their website (4mm @ £175 each) Could be just a lack of interest in those particular items.

I don't think the DMUs are overpriced, nor even the carriages. But Ebay might not be the best medium for a more specialist item such as O gauge models. At the very least, he should have started lower to get some competition going.

Not over-priced but certainly not priced at a starting price to entice bidders in and create a possible bidding frenzy.

I have a dejavu moment on the Westdale DMUs and am sure I have seen them go round the 0 bid route at least twice.

Unfortunately you see this "overpriced start" all too often in 7mm often with sizable collections of items £320 might be a reasonable top-end of market price obtainable but it is a bit like asking for a "BIN", it is not going to attract those buyers looking for a bargain. Unless desperate to sell it needs to go back on the shelf.

But then I get the feeling there are a lot of chancers out on eBay at the moment (all scales) with starting prices nearer to MRP than realism.

You must learn from reactions to your listings and be realistic. For example, I had an N7 with a couple coaches listed a couple weeks ago. Plenty of watchers but no bidders. The week after I lowered the start price by a third, still plenty of watchers but no bidders. Now I have to decide what to do next - 99p start maybe.

I have since discovered that I had misdescribed it quite badly (claiming that it was possibly a Connoisseur kit, when it wasn't) and that the coaches were possibly Slaters, when I now know they are Kirk's.

Incidentally, which pre-80s kit manufacturer made an N7 in white metal?

Steve

A corker http://www.ebay.co.u...=item33789de46c

2 hrs left to run - and details of the item tomorrow!

That's a waste of a listings fee!
