A useful invention? But the box gave no indication of how it distinguishes between burnt toast smoke and other more dangerous kinds, in fact no mention of toast on the box other than the big capitals on the front. The alarms in our house are universally known as the toast alarms anyway.

My 10 year guarantee/battery alarm failed after 5 years.

It sounds continuously, even though there is no smoke.

I was going to send it back but you have to return it with the proof of purchase (even though the date of manufacture is on it)  and pay the postage both ways.

Hardly worth it.

I got 5 years use for £15, the previous alarm would have used at least two Duracell 9v batteries in that time.

Upon closer inspection, whilst stationary at the accompanying traffic lights, it's a bit more obvious that the right arrow is pointing towards the side road visible in the pic.
