A link to James Wells' photo on facebook, hopefully visible to members here and if not maybe James could add it here please?

Alternatively http://twitter.yfrog.com/z/nv87ycmj is a larger version of the same pic

Coincidence is not evidence.

i think you may be missing the joke here, WCR are getting a lot of stick on various rail forums over various recent events from people who think thy know best, so why not blame them for this as they passed by a few days before

with a bit of the Workington flood "can do " attitude could they run top and tail from Scunthorpe to the blockage then reverse through Goole and  continue via Selby

wouldn't work very well for passenger services but might get the freight through

and whilst i'm being creative, run TPex from Doncaster  to Hull, stopping at Hessle for a coach over the Bridge to Grimsby and Cleethorpes

To be fair it was on the BBC Yorks website much earlier, as it was pretty much a "local" story then about some minor train disruption. Only now that there are impressive pictures has it become a story of national/TV interest.

Sorry, I misunderstood News for Sensationalism.

To add a bit more inconvenience for passengers, from today the rail replacement coaches are no longer running from the station front but have been moved to the most distant part of the bus station, 5 minutes walk from platform 4 if you know the way and have no bags, a major pain if you just got off the train from Manchester Airport with your holiday luggage

A reversal up to the landslide and back over Goole is impossible, too much is damaged. A special skeleton northern service via Brigg at commuter times would help send the message that the railway was doing its best as this will be a sustained blockage for perhaps 3 months or more.

The Brigg line is very busy at the moment.

The formation is ruined and the slip is still moving and may not settle for a couple of weeks. There are cracks in the top indicating that much more may come away and push the 'toe' further across the line and into the fields. The trees on the right side of the photos could yet move to the other side of the tracks. A major rebuild will be necessary and that could mean a diversion and new railway.

Fascinating to watch how this develops and a fantastic challenge for a team of engineers.

surely from the Doncaster end they could run a passenger service up to Hatfield and Stainforth and run a rail replacement from there, there are ground signals and a crossover to allow trains to cross over from the down to up line, that way the replacement buses would not be fighting/struggling to get into and out of Doncaster town centre?
