RMweb Gold Market65 Posted September 2, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 2, 2014 Hi, Dave. More excellent photo's today. Lovely photo's of Cramlington, and interesting to see the 156 leaning well over on the cant through the station. The photo's of High Dyke are truly wonderful, and I found J3766 and J3768 of particular interest, with the class 31 hauling an LMS Stove R, number 33005, from Derby to Sewstern, in June, 1974. Please keep the photo's coming. All the best, Market65.

Rugd1022
Cracking Vac shot in post #862 Dave, an absolute corker... it could easily be the cover shot of a '70s Ian Allan Locoshed book. I get a nice warm feeling looking at that, thanks for posting it (more of the same please... ).

RMweb Gold Market65 Posted September 3, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 3, 2014 Hi, Dave. Great photo's of South Darenth, Stone Street Crossing Halt, and Swanley and the EMU's this evening - also really do like the photo' of the 50 and a remarkable collection of parcels stock, post number 862. You're quite right that the EMU's are very much the 'everyday', railway, and it is good to see the photo's of them. Please keep the photo's coming. All the best, Market65. RMweb Gold DaveF Posted September 4, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 4, 2014 (edited) This morning was unexpectedly sunny, the forecast being for cloud and mist at the coast, so while I was shopping I decided to have a walk along the river towards the harbour. An EWS 66, 66006 was in the coal terminal at Battleship Wharf, on the north (east) side of Blyth harbour so I took a few photos, even though there was a light mist. When I got home and looked at them I thought some of them might be useful for those building layouts with a harbour. RMweb Gold DaveF Posted September 6, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 6, 2014 This evening we visit the Great Eastern just east of Boreham where there is an overbridge which crosses both the railway and the A12, the road on the bridge comes off the B1137. Boreham is between Chelmsford and Hatfield Peverel. I visited the location from time to time and never saw another photographer there. In fact I very rarely saw anyone else taking photos in the 70s and early 80s, even at preserved railways. The line on the left in the first photo is the up goods loop which I had believe had a ground frame at New Hall. RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted September 6, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 6, 2014 (edited) Hi David The first photo is of a train for the Shaftesbury Society. The Shaftsbury Society has a convalescant home in Dovercourt and use to have a special train once a week for the patients and carers. I have some photos taken from Generals Lane bridge form a couple of yeares ago, after Dr Who has finished I will find them and post them so you can see the changes. edit Dr Who has finished. Before the A12 was built there was a level crossing at Generals Lane, the first photo shows the crossing keepers house. This has now been demolised. The New Hall loop was removed in the 1980s. The photo with the new blue 312 in it shows the A12, the boards along side the road were to prevent head lights from the cars blinding the train drivers. Today you cannot see the boards through the trees that have grown up between the GER mainline and the A12. The Chelmsford by-pass, opened 1986, now forms an inter-change with the "old A12" at this point. These photo are of a set taken of the OLE in the area, hence the funny views and no trains. Lastly the bridge itself, taken from the crossing keepers garden. Edited September 6, 2014 by Clive Mortimore
RMweb Gold Market65 Posted September 6, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 6, 2014 Hi, Dave. Good to see the photo's of Boreham this evening. C1956 of a class 37 working Norwich to Liverpool St. April, 1975, is a view which reminds me of the snow we had at Easter that year. Not surprised that the A12 is deserted in that last photo', for that really was an atrocious winter! Please keep the photo's coming. All the best, Market65. lmsforever
What a lovely dirty 47 that's how I remember them in service ,the 312,s were a very comfortable unit to ride in but the slam doors did let the cold in pity they didn't fit sliding doors . Generals Lane 2.jpg Hi Clive, Many thanks for the photos above, it's amazing how much the place has changed. I suppose I should expect it to be different some 34 years after moving to Northumberland! I didn't know about the trains for the Shaftesbury Society, I'd always wondered what I'd managed to photograph. David

David I have a feeling this could be a train from Liverpool to Edinburgh; after the Transpennine express timetable was recast in 1979, all the expresses were hourly to/from York, but some were extended to Newcastle, and one, in the summer to, Edinburgh. The Newcastles were supposed to be 9 coaches, of early mark 2 stock, hauled by a class 47. Occasionally, there were class 45/46 sustitutions, though.
