    On Cats

That was a hard post to "rate", the heart for Rafferty or the clapping hands for the new kitten. The open book seemed the best solution to me. So, what is the kitten's name?
  3. I could take exception to that Chimpy! Dave
  4. A bit late, but better than never. Here's my video from the weekends event. Cracking show as ever, welldone to all involved. 28th April 2024 saw the RMweb South West Area Group (SWAG) host their annual members day held at Staplegrove Village Hall, Taunton, Somerset. The show featured no less than 10 visiting layouts and dioramas in a variety of gauges and scales, as well as the famous 'bring & buy' stand, plus a good selection of other traders and demonstration stands . Layouts as featured; OLD PARROCK - 4mm CROPPER STREET SIDINGS - OO PAYNESTOWN - N ST.OSWALDS - 0-16.5 KYLE OF LOCHALSH - 2mm Finescale RUYTON ROAD - P4 MIDDLETON TOP - 4mm OSNEY TOWN - 7mm UPBECH ST. MARY - 4mm LYDBROOK DEAN - 4mm Hope you enjoy!
  5. Nearly a month since the last update but we have been making slow progress on various project although this week we've only managed one session on the layout (other things keep getting in the way!). The gates for the oil depot are nearing completion with the gates now attached to their posts. The posts themselves will not be firmly fixed in position until we get the fence up.
  6. That's correct. BS-95R bullhead rail section. Martin.
  7. Sorry, my bad - getting excited about this stuff helps fund my Accurascale habit 😜
  8. Romsey again today: https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/24295723.romsey-lorry-crashes-unto-greatbridge-road-bridge/
  9. That aside, it really does look the part. Looking forward to receiving my pre-order.
  10. I’m well into the stage now of improving the body work of the old Airfix shell, as opposed to hacking it about and making it look even worse. I thought it would be an idea to list out below the jobs completed thus far and some of those still required to complete the 48XX body shell. I’ve come a long way, but still a way to go. This is not the complete list, but if I add any more to it at this stage it will look too daunting. I will complete this lot and then see what’s next to do. A couple of images below to show how things are left this evening.
  11. He works for KMRC, but I believe he also consults for multiple other organisations when required, as he has done for many years. His discretion about who is doing what means people trust him, as do I.
  12. PS, the treatment of the Calne branch engine, with painted dome, reflects the Railway Magazine comment that the GWR had commenced painting domes, noted in October 1906 - a point I had forgotten - and that and the prize monogram on Trailer 13 suggests that the train was kept up to date in livery terms and the pictures, Harlequin's and the one in Lewis, date from this period, 1906. Thanks for this. I recall this useful compendium from the Great Red Wagon Debate. Here is a reference for the experimental warm-brown carriage livery of 1903, and plenty, IMHO, to support the later general adoption of the brown livery. What surprises me is the description of the auto-tanks going into a reddish-brown livery, like the Isle of Wight Central (August 1906, p.12). This may fuel the idea that brown = red! My money is still on chocolate Auto-tanks from 1905 and brown coaches from 1908, but we'll see!

  14. After the face of a 75,000 year old neanderthal woman is revealed, Joe Biden is reminded of his first date.
  15. Physically, no, not that difficult, though it's an aftermarket mod so not as simple as fitting during construction. I'm not entirely sure what the issue is with 387101, but I believe it's related to having both ETCS and TPWS installed which is causing the problems. Some of the GN ones have had parts of the underframe equipment fitted - balises, cabling, brackets, etc - but nothing upstairs yet. Though work will now be concentrated on 387102-115 as the first 15 are staying with GN, the rest will be moving south of the river once the 379s are transferred across.
  16. Ok so a couple of my modular layouts are one layout that can be arranged in different ways depending on the hall but it’s still one layout to one theme. I do group modular layouts too but the two personal layouts use the same principal so the standard for inter connectivity has nothing to do with precluding them. At the end of the day whichever arrangement they are assembled in the line length, trains and physical area are identical!
  17. IT people certainly know how to make a thread boring.🙄
  18. Horror of horrors, a Diseasle. actually, I rather like them. This is trying to give class 08/ Darjeeling Himalayan vibes. What do we think? I just want something simple and strong to get services running, while I sort out issues with the steam locos. This one should tow anything, it’s heavy, tiny wheels, low geared.
  19. Welcome to the Machine - Pink Floyd
  20. I really wouldn't get too hung up on this issue - the "Return to" markings would still be on the wagons long after the particular traffic finished and from observation remained on the wagons into internal user use and to the end of their lives .......................... i.e Internal user @ Boston Dock
  21. Thanks Robin, it was nice to get the Toplights out on the railway after so many years of languishing. I need to change the bogies on the 3rd brake, they are using a 9ft Collet at the moment.
  22. Putin sees himself as the new Stalin, its to be expected. As for the cats, I'm not a cat person, but it might be a good idea to find the b@stard(s) who thought it was a good idea and inflict the Roman punishment for parricide on them*. * Naturally without the animal component...
